The End~(?)

October 1, 2010

As most of you have probably figured out, Aerie Scans isssss pretty much dead. o.o As in don’t bother trying to resuscitate kind of dead.  I don’t have the interest, the drive, or the time to struggle to get staff and do editing/quality check anymore.  I’m close to finishing my novel, and I’m working as well. I won’t rule out that Aerie will never, ever return in some shape or form, but I wouldn’t count on it.

So yes, that’s pretty much it.

If any of you:

1) Want permission to host our projects, have at it. No need to ask or anything.
2) Want permission to translate our projects, do as you wish. Just be sure to mention our group’s translator’s name whenever you work from their English.
3) Want to pick up one of our projects, speak to the groups who’ve done them most recently. I think pretty much every project has had a new release from someone other than us. That’s their business, not ours anymore.

Thank everyone who reads our projects and has shown us support over the years.  Why am I saying us, it’s just me now, poor lonely ghostcheese. x: Anyway, thanks and goodbye, my dears~ I will miss youuu.

Amakusa 1637 Chapter 8 Released!

March 1, 2010

First off, it’s hard to release when you have ZERO NONE ZIL NILCH translators.  Hence the joint with Evil Flowers.  We want to continue with the joint, so we are currently looking for (preferably) experienced editors. I’m willing to train you newbies as long as you have photoshop, plenty of free time, and the ability to take constructive criticism well. Don’t like cleaning and just like typesetting? Or vice versa? Apply, because we do those two steps separately.

Today’s release, as always can be found by heading to our IRC channel and clicking the link in the topic.  If it’s your first time using IRC, try the IRC via the web link at the right under links we love. Please at least say thank you or even just hi would work, don’t just join, click, and leave.  If you do, I will assume all of you are assessss. ^^  I’m not sure when Evil will post the chapter on their forum, but it will probably be soon if you wish to wait for them.

Other than that, you can wait until the chapter’s uploaded elsewhere on hosting sites, which we ask to not be for TWO OR THREE DAYS, if you please.

Bad: Subaru dropped / Good: Amakusa 1637 Chapter 07 released!

Finally another release, my pretties.  Hard to release when you have ZERO NONE ZIL NILCH translators.  Hence the joint with Evil Flowers.  We want to continue with the joint, so we are currently looking for (preferably) experienced editors. Don’t like cleaning and just like typesetting? Or vice versa? Apply, because we do those two steps separately.

Other than that, you can wait until the chapter’s uploaded elsewhere on hosting sites, which we ask to not be for TWO OR THREE DAYS, if you please.

Another note for you Subaru fans out there, someone, I don’t know who, has been upping chapters on MangaFox. At this moment, it’s up to chapter fifteen there in case you guys want to read more. This means, of course, we’ll be dropping Subaru. We have no one willing to translate the series (translate ANY series really), so it’s probably for the best.

Fie Humbug

November 4, 2009

Fie humbug, it finally happened. My laptop seems to have died. Can’t seem to do anything to fix it. I’ve had it since 2004 and it was the cheapest I could find back then, so it’s lived far past its normal lifespan.

The even more downsidey part of having a dead laptop? I can’t do much at all for Aerie Scans until I get a new one. Which probably won’t be til at least a month or two away.

Well, wish me luck. Maybe I’ll miraculously fix the laptop. Or…stumble on a bag of money or something.

Luff,
~Ghostcheese~

Some Site Changes

September 25, 2009

Before I start, shameless advertising time!

Okay. Now then. Ghostcheese here~ I’ve been tweaking the wordpress a bit, moving things around, adding things, etc.

The most important addition is in the Links on the sidebar.

Infomercial time! With your host~ Chizuuuuu~~~~

Have you always wondered what IRC is? Did you try it out once, only to find it far too confusing or find that it was blocked at your workplace/school?

Well then, today is your lucky day!

Ghostcheese has created a widget for Aerie’s irc channel on Mibbit, a web-based irc chat client.

This useful client allows people who cannot download an irc program to connect to irc with just two clicks of the mouse. Often ports are blocked at school or work, which makes it impossible to connect to irc using normal means. But 9 times out of 10, Mibbit connects regardless of the blocks on a network or router!

So how do you connect to our IRC channel? Here’s the step by step:

1. Click the “Aerie’s IRC Channel via the Web” link near the top of the sidebar.

2. Insert your desired nickname.

3. Click connect!

Things to remember:

1. Nicknames must be unique. If you pick a common nickname that is already taken or is registered, your nick may automatically change into a guest. If this happens, simply type /nick yourdesirednewnick

2. The great deal of text that rolls by when you first connect contains various rules and information about the IRChighway server, which is the server #aerie resides on. Don’t let it scare you.

3. Next will come the #aerie topic, which starts Welcome to Aerie and has several colors. Always check the topic for updates. We will usually post a link to our release in the topic before we even announce a release on Baka-Updates. The 4shared link leads to a folder that should have not only our most recent release, but also our older ones.

4. Other people in the channel are listed on the right sidebar. However, people who haven’t said anything in a while will be listed as “idlers” and automatically hidden. If you think you’re in the wrong place or in an empty chan, first unhide the Idlers by clicking on the word “Idlers”. You should then be able to see other people in the channel.

5. Admins are marked with a Key. Only Ghostcheese and Toma currently have this rank. Ops are marked with a star. Half-ops are marked with a half star. Voiced people are marked with a little gray speaker.

6. If you need to get Ghostcheese’s attention, simply say any of the following words: ghostcheese, cheese, chizu. Feel free to alert me at any time, even if it lists me as an idler. I’m usually around unless my nickname is Chizu|sleep, Chizu|bath, or Chizu|gone.

7. If a menu pops up asking you what program to use to open the irc channel, you clicked the wrong link. The first IRC link is for those who have irc programs. Be sure to use the second link to connect via the web if you wish to use Mibbit.

Now on to other stuff.

I added a staff page, which will serve as a place to make sure that every staff member is working on something when possible, so if you’re curious about what’s been assigned to who, head that way.

I also added an Aerie History page! Curious about how Aerie got its start? Ghostcheese wrote a fun little short story, storybook style, for the first section of the history. The other sections are far more boring, but head that way and check it out if you wish. ~^.^~

Lastly, I added an art page to post the various art that friends have done for us. Check out the deviantart links as well for more art by the artists.

Bara no Tame ni v08 c32 Release & Some News!

September 21, 2009

First of all, we have a new chapter of Bara for you today! Head on over to the IRC channel #aerie@irc.irchighway.net to get it. Please wait at least two days before upping our releases on other sites.

Second of all, I sincerely apologize to each and every one of you who were horribly scarred emotionally by our new translator recruitment pages.

All you have to do to ensure that you never see such horrible sights again is to either volunteer your translation skills for our use, or get your friends to do so~

We are recruiting translators for all of our series, so Japanese and Chinese translators send us an email at aeriescans [at] gmail [dot] com

Remember: without translators, we can’t bring you more chapters of our wonderful projects. And the world may never know wtfh turns Subaru into THAT.

Third (?) of all: We’d like to take this opportunity to announce that Aerie Scans has just agreed to joint with the group Evil Flowers on the project Amakusa 1637. Since we have no translators, we have to cover the editing side of things for now. It may be a while before release since EF’s translator is busy, but nevertheless, we look forward to working with Evil Flowers in the future!

Lastly, remember to follow our twitter for various updates about project statuses and our group.

Now Hiring!

August 15, 2009

Amakusa 1637: Editors (Cleaner or Typesetter or one who can do both which is preferred) and Translator!

Bara no Tameni: (Already has an editor) so looking for a translator (preferably Japanese because the Chinese scans are REALLY different from the Japanaese…but if you are Chinese and really wants to do it, I’ll consider it since I can look over them anyway!)

Subaru: Translator AND Editor (This is the easiest project, so I’m looking for someone willing to finish quickly.)

Don’t worry if you only want to work for a short time. I just need people who are reliable…as in, if I email you, you have to respond within a day (unless you told us that you were on hiatus)!

Email aeriescans@gmail.com

Thanks!

We are back! (Aerie’s status, update on Bara no Tameni, Subaru’s name change, and releases!)
